Overview
Ryan Chahrour is the Ernest S. Liu Professor of Economics and International Studies at Cornell University. His current research focuses on the role of people's beliefs in driving macroeconomic phenomena, including boom-bust cycles in the economy and the durable role of the US dollar in international exchange. His research also examines the effects of monetary and fiscal policy and the consequences of pricing frictions within and across countries. Ryan currently serves an Associate Editor at the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of International Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
Ryan completed his Ph.D. at Columbia University in 2012. Before joining Cornell in 2022, Ryan was an assistant and associate professor at Boston College. Ryan has also been a visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley, the Toulouse School of Economics, and the Federal Reserve Banks of Boston and San Francisco. Prior to his graduate studies, Ryan received a BA in Philosophy and Economics from Swarthmore College and worked as a Research Assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
